Many questions arise like why are pronouns important in writing?. 1. Personal Pronoun

Let’s begin with the first type of Pronoun known as a personal pronoun. These are the pronouns that are the most important and used most of the time in our daily life. They are used for a specific person. Usually, you can use them for persons, things, or ideas. They include He, She, It, they, him, her, who, etc. 

If you are talking about John, John is a smart player. He plays football with winning strategies. Then in this context, you will not use John again and again. “John” is a noun, and after that, if you will talk about him, then you should replace the name with “He.” 

2. Personal Pronoun Examples

  • My father is the most striving person. I love him a lot.
  • Anna makes Pasta, and it was very delicious.
  • Donald Trump competes in elections, but He lost due to fewer votes.
  • Children are playing on the lawn, and they throw the ball outside.

When it comes to using the Pronoun, you can use it according to the first person, second person, and third-person Pronoun.

For 1st Person Singular: I, Me

For 1st Person Plural: We, Us

In Second Person Singular: You

In Second Person Plural: You

In Third Person Singular: He, She, It and Him, Her, It

In Third Person Plural: They, Them 

3. Demonstrative Pronoun

Demonstrative Pronoun refers to discussing a particular thing, an object placed near you or far away. It comprises this, that, these, and those. Similarly, demonstrative pronouns can be used in the place of a noun phrase. 

In this context, the distance matters a lot. If a thing places near you, then you can say that:

“This is an adorable panda.” 

Similarly,

If a thing or an object is far away from you, then you can say that:

Did you watch them?”

4. Demonstrative Pronoun Examples

  • Did you hear about that?
  • These are my adorable pets.
  • I got this iPhone yesterday.
  • Those days were amazing.
  • Do you love this?

Further, while using the demonstrative pronouns, you should also know using the Singular and plural. 

For Singular, you will use This and That.

For plural, you will use These and Those.

5. Interrogative Pronouns

They come in the form of a question. If someone asks you a question, then it will be an interrogative pronoun. They are straightforward. In your daily life, most people asked you questions about yourself or anything else. Most of the time, they are used to start a sentence with the words usually used: what, who, whom, where, etc.

6. Relative Pronouns

Relative pronouns are those that will tell you about the relation. It will play the role of connecting two sentences. So, you can connect a clause or phrase with the help of relative pronouns. They include whom, which, who, that, etc.

Let’s discuss with an example, and further, we will discuss other relative pronoun examples.

“The boy who plays the football match won the tournament.” They are two sentences. One part is “The boy” and the second part is “plays the football match won the tournament.” In this context, “Who” plays a vital role in connecting two parts to make a complete sentence with better clarification.

  • The cell phone that crashed was my favorite one. 
  • Norma is an actor whose acting is lovely.
  • John is a person who loves fitness.
  • To Whom should I send an email?

7. Indefinite Pronoun

Let’s discuss another category of pronouns known by its name as the name suggests that it is not confirmed. Indefinite means that you don’t know about the conformation of things. While speaking, we will use words that don’t match a singular thing or all other things, just like anything, all, Somebody, anyone, each, everybody, etc. 

If we say that “All are working properly.” In this context, we have no idea about all? Who are all? How much are they in quantity? So, the indefinite Pronoun refers to not a specific thing. Similarly, we will have other indefinite pronoun examples that are helpful for you:

  • Everybody in the jungle lost track.
  • All of you are selected for the race.
  • In a blast, Many of the soldiers died.
  • Some people are working day and night.

8. Reciprocal Pronouns

When we talk about reciprocal things in general, it shows a mutual understanding between two persons. There are two reciprocal pronouns through which you can show or make a mutual understanding between two persons. That is Each other and one another. 

The purpose of these pronouns is used to stop the unwanted rotation of words in a sentence. Moreover, these words will creatively make sentences. Just take a sentence like Norma, and Eltan like each other. In this sentence, each other acts like a reciprocal pronoun that has increased a sentence’s sense. There are further examples that will give you more clarity:

  • They gave each other national day gifts.
  • Ellie and Jayon love each other.
  • The children spent their free time hitting the ball with one another.

9. Reflexive Pronouns

Do you know what Reflexive pronouns are? 

As the reflexive means a reflection of something. Generally, the subject and object of a sentence both are different. But some time, the subject and object are the same. So, when the object and the subject both are the same, they are known as reflexive pronouns. Just like itself, herself, himself, ourselves, yourself, etc.

If you say, I prepare the food myself. In this context, you will see that “I” is replaced by myself. So the object and subject both are the same. 

Reflexive Pronouns Examples

  • Norma prepares the fish herself.
  • You should pass the exam yourself.
  • John works day and night himself to compete in the examination.
  • The baby itself catches the banana.

10. Distributive Pronouns

When it comes to the distributive Pronoun, certain words will explain the group of people individually. Likewise, each, either, none, neither, etc. is singular and can be used with singular verbs. 

Distributive Pronouns Examples

Let’s take some help with the examples to understand it in a better way:

  • Each of you will be selected for the archery.
  • Everyone should complete their paper in the given time.
  • None of us has qualified for the final round.
  • I will buy each of these two bikes.

11. Possessive Pronouns

The last type of pronoun in our list is possessive pronouns. You can easily understand them because they are of two types: one is absolutes and the other is limited possessive pronouns. In absolute possessive pronouns consist of his, yours, her, theirs, etc.

Let’s take an example from which you can understand the concept of possessive pronouns easily.

  • This cafe is yours.
  • These pets in the cage are ours.
  • Those five bags are yours.
